Beware of Impersonation Scam - Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Activity

We are issuing a critical fraud alert to all our customers regarding a sophisticated impersonation scam currently circulating on various online platforms, including Facebook and a fraudulent website. It has come to our attention that malicious actors have created at least two Facebook pages, one Facebook group, and one website under false pretenses. We want to ensure the safety and security of our customers, and thus, we urge you to be cautious and vigilant.

Scam Description:

The perpetrators have unlawfully obtained the design and branding from a legitimate company based in Denver, Colorado. They are masquerading under the name Dylan Alexander, using our contact information to lend an air of legitimacy to their fraudulent activities. These individuals are soliciting e-transfers as payment for goods or services that they have no intention of delivering.

What We Are Doing:

We have been using every tool at our disposal to report this issue to Meta (Facebook's parent company). We have also been in contact with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and the Calgary Police. Additionally, we have reached out to the company located in Denver, Colorado to inform them and work alongside them to tackle this fraud on both sides of the border.

How to Protect Yourself:

  • Verify Sources: Exercise caution when interacting with unfamiliar online platforms or individuals. Verify the legitimacy of any business or service provider before making any financial transactions.

  • Secure Information: Never share sensitive personal or financial information through unsecured channels. Legitimate organizations will not request this information via social media, email, text, or unsolicited phone calls.

  • Cross-Check Information: If you encounter a website or social media profile claiming association with a company, cross-check the information provided with the official channels of the respective company. Look for discrepancies in branding, contact details, or website URLs. We only have 1 website and 1 Facebook page: store.autovalueparts.ca and facebook.com/AutoValueAlberta/.

  • Financial Purchases: Avoid making payments via e-transfer or other non-secure methods to unverified entities. Legitimate businesses typically offer secure payment gateways and provide invoices or receipts for transactions. We never request that our customers to pay us via e-transfer. Our current method of payment is cash, debit, or credit card in-store ONLY

  • Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated on common scam tactics and stay informed about the latest fraud alerts.

  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you come across any suspicious Facebook pages, groups, or websites claiming association with Auto Value Alberta, Central Auto Parts, Dylan Alexander or using our contact information, report them immediately to the respective platform and inform us of the fraudulent activity. If you believe you have been targeted by a scam, report it immediately to your local law enforcement.

Our Commitment:

At Auto Value Alberta and Central Auto Parts, we are dedicated to the safety and security of our customers. We are continuing to monitor our platforms closely. However, we rely on your cooperation and vigilance to help maintain a safe online environment for everyone.

If you have any concerns or questions, if you encounter any suspicious activity, or if you are unsure of who you are speaking to, please do not hesitate to contact us.
